Sarah had a really scary park encounter early July 2020. We planned to chat about her story and get into the incident, when I realized we were chatting the day before she set out for a self supported 100mile! The chat went from her story, to preparing for this challenge and how she feels going into her 100miles having just had a terrifying experience.

E57 Lizzy: From eating disorders to running 100miles

Lizzy grew up in a great community with a supportive family, but like many of us she faced a hard time fitting in during high school. She struggled with severe anorexia and negative relationships that continued into university. During hard times she found peace walking in the forest near her school. Those walks turned into runs, and shortly after she ran her first marathon. One year later, she ran San Diego 100 at just 22 years old. She now describes that race as, "so much more than getting a buckle. It was all that went into it. It was the journey of finding trail running and finding myself along the way."

E14 Lori: A kind hearted badass

Lori Herron was born to run long distances. The now 59 year old started running at 38, and jumped in with both feet tackling a 64.5km race as her first event. In the last 20 years Lori has raced the Boston Marathon, completed 12 x 100mile races, a 200mile race, and is signed up for a 5 day stage race next year. Lori’s compassion for others and appreciation for trail running will undoubtedly leave you with a more positive outlook.
