E73 Anne-Marie: Train hard, live happy

Anne-Marie Madden is a Vancouver based trail and road runner. She trains as hard as she works, and the proof is in the races. She recently came 2nd at the Northface 50 Mile Championship and 1st place at the Squamish 23km. In 2018 when the Northface Championship was cancelled she was able to shift gears last minute and run an Olympic qualifying time for a road marathon at 2:42:18. She finds that being outside keeps her happy and helps balance the more hectic and stressful aspects of work life. She is humble, down to earth, and offers great advice that everyone from experts to beginners can benefit from.

E72 Lizzie: When running will kill you

Lizzie found running in her mid 20's and quickly fell in love. It became a huge part of her life as she began winning races and spending her weekends adventuring. She even met her now husband when they shared the podium together at a 50km. In May 2019 her life changed. She was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called AVRC. It's genetic condition that effects the muscle in your heart and makes it turn into scar tissue the harder you work the muscle. This is the main cause of the stories you hear when people drop head during races and marathons. Lizzie shares her story of how she is dealing with crazy diagnosis and accepting that she won't ever run again.

E70 Melissa: Running 100 milers with MS

E70 Melissa: Running 100 milers with MS

Melissa didn’t start running until she was 42. She was diagnosed with MS in her mid 20’s and her neurologist told her to exercise, but she was too busy and tired. She was on disability for about two years in her late 30’s and early 40’s, but when she started to feel better, she decided to run a marathon. She signed up, ran the race, and didn’t have any MS exacerbations. After that, she realized she felt so good that she had to keep running. Melissa has now run 50 marathon or greater distance races, including 8 x 100 milers.
