E70 Melissa: Running 100 milers with MS→
/Melissa didn’t start running until she was 42. She was diagnosed with MS in her mid 20’s and her neurologist told her to exercise, but she was too busy and tired. She was on disability for about two years in her late 30’s and early 40’s, but when she started to feel better, she decided to run a marathon. She signed up, ran the race, and didn’t have any MS exacerbations. After that, she realized she felt so good that she had to keep running. Melissa has now run 50 marathon or greater distance races, including 8 x 100 milers.

/Rae ran her first mile 6 weeks after she had her son Maverick. She found it a major struggle, but something clicked and she set the goal to run 10km before her son turned one. That came and went, and pretty soon she had the goal of running 50miles. After quite some time of trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant with baby number two, she decided to sign up for a race. Two weeks later, she found out she was pregnant. With her midwives approval, she set out to run her first 50miler at 18 weeks pregnant.
